DUNROAMIN’ STRAY AND RESCUE RECEIVES $16,500 GRANT
January 19, 2018 – Woodstock, NB – Today, DunRoamin’ Stray & Rescue announced it has received a $16,500 grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada, one of the nation’s leading funders of animal welfare, to help fuel its spay and neuter efforts in Woodstock, NB.
With this grant and the support of a local veterinary clinic, DunRoamin’ will offer spay/neuter surgeries for community cats living within the town limits. Members of the public with knowledge of stray cats or stray cat colonies, and who are willing to participate in the transportation and recovery of these felines, are invited to apply for this subsidized spay/neuter program. Application forms will be available at DunRoamin’, at the Town Office in Woodstock and at various locations throughout the area.
DunRoamin’ spokesperson, Mandy Hamilton, says “This program, generously supported by PetSmart Charities of Canada, will be a great opportunity for the community to come together to help address the long-standing issue of stray and abandoned cats in the area."
PetSmart Charities of Canada aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness by supporting spay and neuter programs across the country. Regional relationship manager Dani Mailing says, “Through strong partnerships with local veterinarians, the community and animal welfare organizations like DunRoamin’ Stray and Rescue, we’re helping to reduce the number of unplanned litters had by stray and community cats. Ultimately, programs like this one are preventing further pet overpopulation and suffering in New Brunswick and beyond.”
